In this project i have been tasked to design a building which i have taken pictures of and in this page, you will be able to see my development and problem solving ideas.
What are UV's?
UVs are two-dimensional texture coordinates that correspond with the vertex information for your geometry. UVs are vital because they provide the link between a surface mesh and how an image texture gets applied onto that surface. They're essentially the foundation for all of your work you do in 3D modelling
What is 0-1 UV Spacing?
0-1 uv space means the square/tile in the centre of the uv editor. U being horizontal (0) V being vertical (1) so the bottom left hand side aka the U is 0 and the top right of the UV is 1

Working Outside The UV space
You can't paint outside the 0-1 UV range in Substance Painter. the only way you can is by using the alternative UDIM workflow although if you do paint out of it you will just wrap round the UV
UDIM -UDIM is an enhancement to the UV mapping and texturing workflow that makes UV map generation easier and assigning textures simpler.

UV Software and methods
The UV software will be maya and some of the methods will be transferring our uv to Photoshop and adding colour and any other textures

Texture maps
Texture mapping is a method for defining high frequency detail, surface texture, or colour information on a computer-generated graphic or 3D model
Transfer maps
Transfer maps allow you to list your layers of your piece and brake them down.

Texture/UV Terminology
What is 3D Modelling?
3D modelling is the process of creating any object using a mathematical process to create a real life surface.Hence the reasoning behind it being called a 3D model
3D modelling is used in most games to date and is vital.
The difference between 3D modelling for games and films
One of the biggest differences for modelling for movies and for games is the detail in the models meaning movies have a much larger polygon budget meaning movies are allowed to have freedom with their detail. however Games modelling is closing the gap with the detail. Another difference between the two is that Games modelling needs real life rendering whilst movie modelling doesn't.

What modelling software is used in games mostly?
Maya is used for games due to it being the best for animations and for it being such a powerful software.
what is high and low poly modelling?
Low poly is a polygon mesh in 3D computer graphics that has a relatively small number of polygons. Low poly meshes occur in real-time applications e.g. games as contrast with high poly meshes in animated movies and special effects of the same era.
what are faces vertices and edges?
you have polygon faces currently selected, you can change the selection so the vertices associated with those faces get selected instead of Maya converts from vertices to edges or faces, or edges to faces, the converted selection contains every component that touches the original selection.
What is extruding?
It is when you push out a face to make another face.
what is bevelling?
To reduce the size or shape
what is bridging?
The resulting bridged faces are merged into the original mesh. Bridge is useful when you need to connect two sets of edges together with a piece of mesh. For example, connecting and merging the wrist on a character's arm to its hand.
what is ambient occlusion in games?
Ambient occlusion is a method to approximate how bright light should be shining on any specific part of a surface, based on the light and it's environment. This is used to add realism. Wikipedia has a nice paragraph that explains what is done.
what are booleans?
Booleans let you model with polygonal objects. Three boolean operations let you combine objects to make shapes that would otherwise be difficult to model using other techniques. You can add, subtract, or intersect objects to create a new, complex shape. See Combine polygon meshes using booleans.
Here is all the may areas/Key places over Maya going from the tool box all the way to High Display.
Here is my Proposal for my building which i am going to model as you can see i have a few buildings which will won't be as accessible as some for eg The shard won't be a possibility for me as i can't travel to London every time
Nurbs And Polygons
Nurbs - Non-uniform rational basis spline
Polygons- any 2-dimensional shape formed with straight lines
Nurbs have curved edges and have more weight to when ever you are editing the Faces of the shape Whilst with polygons you have more control over the shape and you'll be able to manipulate more of the vertexs and faces to your liking.
Importing images
Curve Edges
Here is what I done in today's lesson i managed to model some of the front of my house as a whole I found it quite challenging for me to do
evaluation
in this project i think that i could of managed my time a lot better whilst doing this due to I didn't use my full time to come out with my best piece of work i personally think so in my next project i will improve on it
