Piece By Dorje Bellbrook
The colour palette used in this piece is very high saturation and very unrealistic colours and there is a lot of splash of colours making the very dull background to be muted.
The focal point of the piece is the Hunter in the bottom of the picture
The piece depicts for me is that there is a lone man on a unknown planet just wondering about.
The atmosphere of the picture is very mysterious and also inviting due to the colours.
The meaning behind this picture is to portray an unknown and alien environment
What I notice first about the picture is the electrical poles over flowing with energy
My peers anotaions
The electrical rods are the focal point which isn't wrong but the hunter is the focus due to he is a human in an environment.
Desolate atmosphere is portrayed from this piece
the colour are bright/happy
The action is taking place in the 3 middle thirds as well as the bottom left third too.
The biggest form in the piece is the buildings/wall in the background.
Above are my very very basic sketches of some thumbnail environments no detail but they are for the rule of third.
Here is my dominate, sub dominate and focus points of a concept environment piece
The dominate point is in Red and is the biggest object
The Sub dominate is in Yellow and is usually just smaller objects
The Focal point is in Green and is the Focus of the whole picture
Here is a thumbnail environment piece I created as you can see it is in an industrial scene
Here i have chosen 5 pieces of concept art and i analysed them all to find leading lines to find the focal point of each piece you can identify the lines from my white arrows.
Here is my Dominant/ Sub dominant and focal points of my piece as you can see I kept the same colour key of my last ones, as well as i have blue leading lines to the focal point of my piece
In today's lesson i have created several thumbnail pieces using One point, Two point and Three point retrospectives. We obviously focused on prospective in this lesson no detail or colour really as we were just learning the basics. However using prospective allows the viewer to feel many of ways for example with one point prospective it draws the viewer in but with two point it gives the viewer options.
Here is my dominate, sub dominate forms along with my focal point
Red indicates Dominate Yellow indicates Focal point and Green is the sub dominate forms
For my assignment i was asked to design a detail environment of my choosing in a 2D format not a 3D. Having this opportunity of essentially a blue sky is great due to you don't get this opportunity really when you are working with a company. I choose to do a post apocalyptic environment.
In this assignment I used many materials to my advantage to help me to produce the best piece of work. Some of the materials I used are of the following; Wacom Pen and pad this tool(Material) was the crucial piece for me to be able to create any of my Silhouettes and sketches and finally my final piece, along with Photoshop as i needed that due to it being my canvas to create all of my ideas for my environment from the very first silhouette all the way down to my detailed part finished environment, however without blogger all my work would not be as easily accessible without so this allows a smooth run with evaluating my work. All of these material are a lot effective than traditional art due to in Photoshop I have the ability to copy work so i don't have to draw two sides are one piece so it's time efficient also it allows me to have all paints at my disposal and not have to mix them like traditional painting.
As a whole I am happy quite happy with my piece of work at the ending scene due to i was going for a post apocalyptic street and i managed to capture the city how ever not exactly the post apocalyptic side so if I had more time I would of been able to capture that exactly to how I wanted it. in my whole assignment I would say i'm most proud of the prospective as I think it is a very good example of prospective, for me to get my prospective i had to do a lot of two point prospective drawings until I found the right one in my eyes I even drew a few 3 point prospective to see if I would like them.
Some of the techniques I used during my project was Golden Spiral and Rule of thirds grid these techniques allow me to have a pleasing piece of work if you were to look at it and it also highlights the focal point of my piece. I also used Sub dominate and dominate forms in my piece, This leads me onto to my research part of my assignment I used many resources such as google where I would search up reference images and use them to help me get the right designs for buildings, I also used lesson slides which were on the drive to help me remember the crucial points of the lessons
this helped me when i was struggling in my lessons when i forgot what to do. I think my piece would fit in a game like the last of us as it's a post apocalyptic scene and it would go perfectly with the environment. to some up if I had more time i would focus a bit less on detail and try and get my apocalyptic environment perfect.
